Hi All Here in South Notts, it's been disappointing. Early inspections went well with us finding 23 pairs and 110 eggs & chicks and another 7 pairs in boxes but with no eggs. However, ringing over the last 2 weeks has shown that seven of the breeding pairs had deserted and the 17 pairs that had bred had produces only 47 chicks between them. I still have two late pairs to do. Some pairs have been early with young now fledged while others are about 4 weeks behind. A high point for us though was the ringing of our 500th Barn Owl chick. We've had a good result from the Broxtowe Project so far. We erected 6 new boxes in April and 4 of these have breeding pairs and a 5th held a roosting male so a very fast uptake. The birds must have been in the boxes within days of us hanging them. An increase of 3 pairs for the Broxtowe Project.
