Cresote is fine to use on owl boxes. We've been using it exclusivly on all our outdoor boxes for sixteen years and barn owls use them OK. Just make sure that it's really dry before you put the box up. On a slightly different note, we never use tropical hardwood (unlike most box manufacturers and some wildlife charities). We only use softwood ply (refered to as CDX in the trade). 9mm untreated for indoor boxes and 18mm saturated in cresote for outdoor boxes. Good idea to treat all the box parts before you finally put it together so that you can treat all the edges too. For general info or a list of the Trusts free info leaflets visit barnowltrust.org.uk
